In spring 2008, join Prospect Park, Prospect Park Zoo and the Brooklyn Public Library’s Kidsmobile for readings, history-themed arts & crafts, storytelling, Zookeeper chats and more! Kids’ Sundays will be held on the first Sunday of every month (March through June) in the Children’s Corner of Prospect Park:
On Sunday, June 1 from 1-4pm, enjoy a Humorphous Dance performance at Prospect Park Zoo by the Phillipa Kaye Company, a Brooklyn-based nonprofit dance troupe that transforms themselves into sea lions, baboons and other animals using interpretational dance. The dancers, also known as humorphous dancers, will perform throughout both days along the zoo’s Discovery Trail and at the Sea Lion Pool. Visitors are encouraged to watch, move along with the dancers, and just have a great time! And at scheduled times posted in the zoo, get eye to eye with the coolest creatures in Brooklyn as wild animal keepers and volunteers bring some of the zoo’s special animals right to you in our Discovery Theater or barn stage. In Prospect Park, from 1-3pm, kids can make crafts with all natural and recycled materials at the Boathouse, or learn 19th-century crafts at Lefferts Historic House. And, no one needs to head home empty-handed. After all that excitement, families can stop by Brooklyn Public Library’s Kidsmobile, to hear stories, check out books and sign up for library cards.
