In the wake of this devastating storm, Brooklyn has experienced substantial loss, as well as an outpouring of support from across the borough and the city. Heart of Brooklyn's member institutions, particularly Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Prospect Park, sustained damage in the storm. You can support the Garden's recovery efforts here, or Prospect Park's recovery efforts here.
If you are interested in supporting impacted neighborhoods through Brooklyn Public Library's supply drives and other efforts, please visit their Hurricane Update page. Prospect Park Zoo and its Wildlife Conservation Society partners will also be collecting toys for families in need as a result of Hurricane Sandy this holiday season during their annual Toy Drive, from November 17–December 31.
We also encourage those who are able to donate time or funds to visit brooklynrecoveryfund.org, a joint initiative of the Office of the Brooklyn Borough President, the Brooklyn Community Foundation, and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce.
